The beauty of Ireland, the Emerald Isle, its rugged coastlines, steep cliffs, rolling waves, and the vivid blue hues of the ocean are the inspiration behind Waterfords Treasures of the Sea collection. The Craftsmen of Waterford use a technique, known as casing, the traditional and highest quality way of creating coloured crystal. One or more layers of coloured glass are fused to a base of clear crystal and then by cutting through the coloured casing, the underlying clear crystal is revealed and incorporated into the design. This intricate workmanship, where each piece is blown twice due to the two-layer technique, makes coloured cased crystal even more valuable. This stunning collection from Waterford includes beautifully cut vases in vibrant ocean colours forming eye-catching centrepieces alongside outstandingly crafted tall vases designed to bring unique style to the home with all the rich heritage of Ireland and its unique land and seascapes. Colleen is one of Waterford’s best-known and much-loved patterns, first introduced in 1953 with beautiful contrasts between its intricately crafted distinctive olive cuts and the sparkling Caro cuts. Its elegant history takes a contemporary form with this large 30cm Flared Vase which accentuates the radiant clarity of the fine crystal. Inspired by Irelands rugged seascapes and the movement of the ocean waves, the vase makes a stunning statement piece from Waterford, the home of crystal, and is perfect for a striking floral arrangement or special gift to treasure, presented in a signature grey gift box.
